Information and Suggestions for Addressing City Council

Version 2.0

As of 9/3/2022

  1. The meeting location is City Hall, Council Chambers, 298 West Washington Street, Stephenville, TX. Parking is available in the plaza across the street from City Hall.

  2. The meeting starts promptly at 5:30 PM, Tuesday, Sept 6, 2022. Doors open at 5:15. Plan to arrive early.

  3. Enter through the single door labeled “City Council Chambers” on Washington Street, not the main double doors.

  4. Sign up to address the City Council with the City Council Secretary prior to the meeting. The Mayor will call upon people who have signed up to speak individually when the agenda item for Citizen Input comes up for discussion.

  5. Be respectful of the Mayor and City Council. They are unpaid volunteers who have the best interests of the city at heart.

  6. The Council has a time limit of 3 minutes per speaker. Respect that time limit

  7. One typewritten page double spaced takes about 3 minutes to read aloud.

  8. Don’t assume that you have to be a great public speaker to address the City Council. Your remarks will be 99.99% effective if you simply read verbatim from a single double-spaced page (or less) of pre-written remarks

  9. Optional: If you wish to do so, you can make 9 copies of your pre-written remarks available to the Council Secretary for distribution to the Mayor and Council Members
